Or Maybe he'll just be a lion!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

When Jack Grows Up - Part One

Whenever I see baby Jack playing I always think about what he may do when grows up.  So far my predictions are:
  • Football player
  • Professional Stander
  • Anything to do with Space Ships (Gill – he still LOVES them!)
  • Baby teacher (with a focus on rolling, squirming, and taking your diaper off 101)
  • Race Car Driver (he already makes the vroom sounds)
  • Swing designer
Yesterday, we discovered another profession while at the Pumpkin Patch; maybe Jack will be a veterinarian.  Chris and I were astounded at how Jack would let the animals come right up to him and we had to desperately try to keep him back.  I think that it is the perfect combination of fearlessness and ignorance babies have that we all seem to lose along the way...

Jack sat in the hay with the brand new pigs...one even took off his shoe!

So yes, I am adding Veterinarian to my list....either that or he will own a Pumpkin Patch.

Which one, which one....

The End.

Oh the dramatic finality of it all. Every large event in my life has always felt like a beginning but this is the very first end of a chapter.

Today is my very last day of maternity leave with Jack (previous sentence written with a heavy sigh and an even heavier heart). And while I am so excited for Jack to get to spend the next three months with his father, I cannot help but feel sad for myself.

For one reason or another, I never started a baby book for Jack and I’m not quite sure why...I am totally the type to write things down in journals with different coloured pens, it’s almost a shame. Then this morning I had an urge to look at my blog...and not just the recent entries, but the entries from the very beginning, and low and behold my version of the baby book.

As I reflect on my past 9 months in 38 blog posts, I can think of only one word – Grateful.

I am so grateful to my baby, my family, and above all, my husband. Never have I seen a better side of the people in my life than when they are around Jack. The joy of grandparents, the awe of our siblings, and the glee of great grandparents who feel so blessed.

So...

To my husband I say that I love you so much! Jack is very lucky and he promises to have good naps and tones of hugs and kisses for you.

And...

To my sweet baby Jack, I have had the best time with you. Over the past nine months I have laughed more than ever and I think that you are wonderful, I just adore you. I cannot wait to walk through the door on Monday afternoon to your huge smile. But for now, today, I will settle for watching you snug in your bed on your tummy, tush in the air – classic Jack.

On to the next Chapter.

(are you ready for me Dad!?!)
